University of Newcastle Engineering Society

The University of Newcastle Engineering Society aims to bring together engineering students by hosting a wide range of social and industry events, allowing students to form new social connections as well as connections within industry.

Club Goals

To establish interpersonal relationships between UONES members.

  1. Bring together and strengthen the community of the University of Newcastle, particularly but not exclusively, those within the School of Engineering.

  2. Provide networking opportunities between UONES members and industry members.

  3. Host various events, both social and academic, giving back not only to the Engineering and Built Environment students but to the whole community of the University of Newcastle.

  • Networking W/ Elegance Workshop

    ~ Facilitated by UoN's Career Service and Engineers Australia ~

    Join us for a workshop on "How to Network with Elegance", to learn tips and tricks on how to network effectively as well as build confidence. This is great preparation for NUWiE and UONES' Networking Night on the 4th of September. Students who attend the networking workshop will receive discounted tickets to the Networking night ($5 tickets down from $15). This workshop will go over practical ways to present yourself, chat to industry, prepare your Linkedin and will also include a panel to hear about the do's and don'ts from engineers in industry.

    Lunch and beverages will be provided for attendees to the workshop!

    Networking is important skill, and this workshop will set you up for success!

    When: 11am-1:30pm Wednesday the 20th of August

    Where: BSC126, Architecture Wing at Callaghan Campus

    A password will be given to attendees which will provide them access to the discounted $5 tickets for our Networking Night.

  • NUWiE x UONES Industry Networking Night

    The Semester 2 NUWiE x UONES Industry Networking Night is coming up at the Kingstown Bar at NEX Newcastle. This networking night will be a great way to build your connections with industry representatives and other engineering students and alumni from The University of Newcastle.


    Student tickets: $15 for club members & $30 for non-members (membership is free)


    Join us from 6 pm on Thursday 4th September 2025.


    Please join us for this must-not-miss industry networking night in Week 6 of Semester 2. This evening event will involve representatives from various distinguished engineering firms engaging with students in a relaxed, casual setting, accompanied by light snacks and an open bar.
